Established Boston | 2012

It started with a scarf.

A simple idea to create fashion that grew into a movement about making and community.

Our Beginning

We wanted to make things differently.

With fast-fashion booming, Third Piece began with a focus on craftsmanship and a desire to preserve the human touch behind what we wear.

We partnered with local knitters around Boston to create small batches of our knitwear designs.

Each one made by hand.

Our Boston brand went places

Our knitwear was carried by the most renowned fashion retailers including Henri Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman and Shopbop. We went on to open a flagship store in Boston's South End that brought our 'Made By Us' or 'Made By You' concept to life.

AND SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENED

People wanted to learn how to knit.

Our Boston store became a place to gather and learn. It was where we discovered what happens when you slow down and make something. Those experiences showed us the power of knitting and how it brings people together.

A new perspective

The business evolved, but the patterns remain.

Over the years Third Piece has changed shape. The store closed, our yarn and knitwear lines paused and the business moved in a different direction.

But the patterns, creativity and community behind them are still there.
